If not, you do now. We find ourselves inundated with enquiries for domestic and commercial container conversions and it’s no surprise to us. Container conversions are a cost-effective, space-saving (or space-creating) solution for home owners and businesses alike. Shipping containers, although built with their initial purpose of shipping in mind, are extremely versatile and can be converted for a multitude of different purposes. We’re firmly standing by our tagline of ‘if you can think it, we can build it’ as we have done so far!
More recently, we’ve taken enquiries from people who know that a container conversion could in fact solve a problem for them, but they’re not entirely sure as to what can be achieved with a humble new or used shipping container. Many people are surprised with just how many fabrications, fittings and fixtures can transform a container into a fit-for-purpose facility. To give you a better idea of just how different container conversions can be, we’ve decided to share just 10 of our most recent container conversions. Maybe you will find yourself inspired!
This 10ft bespoke unit was converted to be used as a serving station for drinks, hot food and ice-cream. The container was fitted with a worktop and plumbed-in sink, in addition to a full electrical fit out. The open doors revealed a bulkhead partition and sliding window, which would be the serving area of the unit.
This 30ft unit was converted to be used at a large allotment, so that users had a sheltered area to use kitchen facilities and create a small community atmosphere. The container was fitted with kitchen units, a water heater, hard-wearing polyfloor and large windows to let in lots of light (and good views) from the allotment.
This 10ft COSHH store was made for a nationwide company, to be used for storing any kind of hazardous substances such as paint, oil, etc. As standard for our COSHH containers, it comes with vents, anti-vermin mesh, watertight bund and a raised mesh floor.
This retail unit leaves a lot to the imagination! This container conversion began life as a 20ft shipping container and has subsequently been transformed into a retail unit suitable as a bar, cafe or restaurant.
This welfare cabin was created by adding anti-vandal windows and doors to a 40ft container and included all the necessary facilities for the on-site staff, including: shower, WC, changing room, office and canteen.
This new 20ft double door container was transformed into an office block for a university. With the stand-out feature of adding glass doors at both ends, additional access is granted to this uniquely converted container.
Worldwide home furnishings company, Ikea, requested the conversion of a 20ft container for their staff to use a changing area and dry room. The inside of the container was converted to fit this purpose by adding benches and clothes hooks on the walls.
This 10ft container was revamped as a refreshments kiosks. Adding a door and a serving hatch to one side of the container allowed full access to the inside, as well as offering patrons an area to be served.
We converted this 20ft container into an on-site canteen for a nationwide haulage firm. The container, with the addition of a secure door at one end, allowed drivers the facility to make refreshments and keep belongings secure.
GENERAL STORAGE UNIT
A nationwide construction company requested the conversion of this 20ft container as a general on-site storage unit that could be easily transported with goods from site to site. Extra fittings were added internally to offer more personalised storage areas.
