It’s no secret that space is a luxury in your home, and it’s not always possible to transform a spare room into an office environment that is fit for purpose. However, the garden offices we’re converting offer a cost-efficient, easy solution to this problem, giving you the opportunity to create a garden office out of the home but close enough for convenience.

A lot of people argue that a shipping container isn’t suitable for an actual home but when it comes to outbuildings, such as garden offices, people up and down the country are jumping on the container bandwagon! As a drastically cost-effective alternative to a home extension, you can choose a more casual, open design with a very low investment in comparison – a no brainer if you’re looking for extra space.

The process to arranging the conversion of your very own garden office is simple – purchase our most popular shipping container – a 20ft used cargo container – and put your own personal stamp on the conversion works to create an innovative, personalised garden office unit!

Why Choose A Container Garden Office?

Container sizes vary from 10ft to 40ft, however the most common option is 20ft.
Containers can be bought either new or used depending on your references.
Containers are designed to a completely bespoke specification, giving you total control.
Containers can be installed and moved at your leisure as they have no fixed foundations.

All shipping container conversions to garden offices are:

Fully insulated for comfort
Fitted with power points
Inclusive of features, such as glass sliding doors, windows, heating, etc.
Easily transported to your location
Optional to add security shutter if you require

Do I Need Planning Permission?

For the most part, you do not need planning permission for a container garden office in your garden. Where planning law is concerned, container garden offices are effectively temporary buildings and do not have permanent foundations, like your house or conservatory does. However, as a general rule, you would need to seek planning permission if:

You live in a conservation area
Your home is a listed building
You wish to locate your garden office within 5 metres of your home
Your office will take up more than 50% of your garden space
You want to locate your garden office between your home & the road outside your home EG. in your front garden

It may be the case that if you answer yes under any of these circumstances, you might not require planning permission, although it’s always best to check with your local authority.
