20ft x 16ft Workshop
A training centre workshop made from 2x 20ft shipping containers for a college in the northwest. The units were specially made for the fabrication and welding department of the college. We fitted a large Electrically operated roller shutter door so equipment could easily be put into the workshop such as welding machines, materials etc. Fire door installed with emergency panic bar system. Each container had a side removed to create a large 20ftx16ft unit on site. Firstly, the units where internally plywood lined and insulated in rockwool. The Plywood was then painted in fire retardant paint before being overlaid in aluminium checker plate, giving the unit that industrial feel. Universal also fabricated some welded bays for the pupils as well as a steel workbench. The floor was overlaid in mild steel durbar as it needed to be very hard wearing due to the hot works. Electrics where sub surface mounted with emergency lighting and 3 phase power allowing us to instal 415v sockets to power up items such as the welders and plasma cutters. The containers were painted in an anti-corrosive container paint. Finally, the Universal team went to site and linked the units together for the customer.
