Shipping Container Conversions: Bars & Restaurants
Shipping containers are so popular these days.
You will see them everywhere, probably without even noticing. Container conversions are being used by businesses across the world for lots of different purposes: construction site offices, toilet blocks, storage facilities and now more commonly, bars and restaurants.
Why Shipping Containers for Bars and Restaurants?
Cost Effective
Shipping container conversions are much less costly to fit out than a standard bar or restaurant. Not to mention that there’s no rent to pay on the container!
No Commitments
Shipping containers, due to their nature of being transportable, rarely require planning permission unless they are to be a fixed premises. Containers are popping up as temporary eateries and cafes up and down the country and they are beginning to make an appearance at festivals too!
Fully Customisable
Shipping container can be transformed into pretty much anything you want them to be. At Universal Containers, we firmly believe that there is no job too big or small and if you can think it, we can build it. We have a variety of fixtures, fittings and fabrication options available to convert your container to specifically match up with your brief.
What do Shipping Container Bars Look Like?
We’re glad you asked! Have a look at this container conversion built for a company in the North West who were looking for a ‘stand out’ unit that they could kit out into their very own bar at a local event venue.

We created this simple yet effective 20ft container conversion. It looks the part with its bright vibrant colours and LED lights, which means it really stands out in the dark and will work brilliantly for its designed purpose in being transformed into a bar. Of course, these were all chosen by the client but there are lots of other optional extras available to really personalise your container so that it is fit for purpose.
In fact, the unit itself could be used for many different purposes, such as a catering unit or a sales shop front. In fact, the possibilities of a container like this are limitless. This particular unit was used indoors, however it could be easily adapted and used outdoors as we could kit it out with roller shutters to cover the openings and make it safe and secure. See?
